The Come Learn with Me series is designed to improve a young child’s development in the areas of communication and cognitive skills.  This program can provide a fun and interactive session for children to use with parents through natural play, with therapists or teachers in structured learning where activities are teacher directed, or with therapists or teachers in instructured learning when following a child’s lead.

To accomplish the goal of developing a young child’s early language ability, the adult interacting with the child can focus on the following skills:


Come to My Farm

Receptive language skills-

refers to understanding the meaning of words, which may include verbal or visual language.

Skill Directive
Identify animals Point to cow, show me horse
Identify pictures Point to barn, show me truck
Follow one-step directions Get dog, give me sheep
Follow directions related to prepositions Put the pig in the mud
Take the pig out of the barn
Following two-step directions Put the cow in the mud and the horse in the barn

Expressive language skills-

refers to the ability to communicate using spoken or printed words.

Respond to yes/no questions Is this a cat

refers to the progressive and continuous growth of perception, memory, imagination, conception, judgement, reasoning, and thinking skills.
